Young racer Chris Clark prepares for a thrilling season in Portugal.

Introduction to a rising star

At just 18 years old, Chris Clark is making waves in the world of motorcycle racing. Hailing from Fairfax, Virginia, this young talent has been selected as one of 19 riders globally to compete in the prestigious 2025 FIM R3 BLU CRU World Cup. This opportunity marks a significant milestone in Clark’s racing career, showcasing his dedication and passion for the sport.

Preseason preparations in Italy

Recently, Clark participated in a preseason induction and test at the renowned Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy. This event was crucial for all competitors as they prepared for the season opener at Portimão, Portugal, scheduled for March 29-30. During the induction, riders received essential gear, including race suits, airbags, boots, and gloves, ensuring they are well-equipped for the challenges ahead.

One of the highlights of the event was the “bike raffle,” where each rider randomly selected a number to determine which Yamaha YZF-R3 they would race this season. This unique approach promotes fairness and excitement among the competitors, setting the stage for a thrilling championship.

Training under expert guidance

Clark’s training sessions were supervised by none other than Aldi Satya Mahendra, the 2024 FIM Supersport 300 World Champion and 2023 FIM R3 BLU CRU World Cup runner-up. Under Mahendra’s watchful eye, Clark participated in five 20-minute sessions, focusing on honing his skills and building confidence. The experience was invaluable, allowing him to learn from one of the best in the field.

Reflecting on his training, Clark expressed his satisfaction with the progress made during the two-day event. He stated, “I am really happy with how the past two days have gone. The promotional day was a lot of fun and something I had never done before but it was great.” As the sessions progressed, Clark improved his lap times, showcasing his potential and determination to excel in the upcoming races.

Looking ahead to the season

The 2025 FIM R3 BLU CRU World Cup will take place alongside six rounds of the FIM Superbike World Championship, with races scheduled at iconic tracks such as Misano, Donington Park, Balaton Park, Aragon, and Estoril. The ultimate prize for the champion is a Yamaha-supported ride in the 2025 FIM Supersport 300 World Championship, a dream opportunity for any young racer.

As Clark gears up for the season, his enthusiasm and commitment are palpable. He has expressed excitement about working with his team and is eager to showcase his skills on the track. With a strong support system and a clear focus on his goals, Chris Clark is poised to make a significant impact in the world of motorcycle racing.
