The Barber Vintage Festival is set to host the highly anticipated Pro Challenge, a thrilling motorcycle racing event organized by the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA). Scheduled for October 4, 2025, at the iconic Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, this event promises to be a highlight of the 20th Annual Barber Vintage Festival. What to expect at the Pro Challenge
This year’s Pro Challenge will showcase a diverse lineup of modern racing motorcycles, piloted by professional racers and eligible AHRMA competitors. The event will feature a cash purse, details of which will be announced soon, adding to the competitive spirit. Last year, the Sound of Thunder 2 class saw over 120 unique racers and more than 400 race entries, demonstrating the popularity and excitement surrounding this event. Leasha Overturf, AHRMA’s Road Race Director, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are excited to feature one of AHRMA’s most popular modern race classes for the 2025 AHRMA Pro Challenge at the legendary Barber Vintage Festival.”
Eligibility and participation details
To participate in the Pro Challenge, racers must meet specific eligibility criteria. Competitors must be licensed AHRMA members and comply with the Barber Racer Eligibility Requirements. Additionally, they must participate in a Friday practice session and a timed qualifying session on Friday afternoon. The race on Saturday will be open to those who demonstrate competitive lap times during qualifying. Eligible machines include a variety of motorcycles, from liquid-cooled twins to 900cc and unlimited air-cooled twins. This diverse range of machines ensures a thrilling race experience for both participants and spectators alike.
