Breaking barriers in NASCAR
Katherine Legge has made headlines recently by becoming the 17th woman to compete at the highest level of NASCAR. Her debut at Phoenix Raceway was not just a personal milestone; it marked a significant moment for women in motorsports. Legge’s journey is a testament to her passion and dedication, and she is ready to take on even more challenges in the upcoming season. With plans to expand her NASCAR schedule, Legge is set to make her mark in a sport that has historically been male-dominated.
New partnerships fueling her ambitions
On April 10th, Legge announced a renewed partnership with e.l.f. Cosmetics, a collaboration that highlights her commitment to female empowerment and tenacity. This partnership, along with support from Droplight, Sherfick Companies, and Desnuda Tequila, showcases the growing recognition of women in racing. Legge expressed her excitement, stating, “This should signal to people that we’re serious, and we’re here to make a name for ourselves.” With these partnerships, she aims to not only compete but also inspire the next generation of female drivers.
A packed schedule ahead
Legge’s ambitious plans for the 2025 season include a total of 12 races, comprising five Cup races and seven Xfinity races. She will pilot the No. 32 Jordan Anderson Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series and the No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports Chevrolet in the Cup Series. Her schedule features a mix of road courses and drafting tracks, including a familiar venue, Indianapolis. Although she will miss the Indy 500 this year, her focus remains on gaining essential experience and showcasing her skills on the track.
Commitment to growth and learning
Legge’s determination to succeed is evident in her approach to the upcoming season. She plans to spend time in the simulator, working closely with her teams to absorb as much knowledge as possible. “It’s taken a lot of support, hard work, and determination to get here,” she remarked, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning in her racing career. As she gears up for the season, Legge is not just racing; she is paving the way for future female drivers, proving that with passion and perseverance, anything is possible.
