Lotus Emira Turbo SE: A thrilling milestone in sports car performance

Celebrating the production of the 10,000th Lotus Emira with exciting updates.

Celebrating a production milestone

The Lotus Emira has quickly made its mark in the automotive world, achieving a remarkable milestone of 10,000 units produced in just over three years. This achievement is particularly impressive given that the production capacity at Lotus’ Hethel, U.K. plant was previously limited to 1,500 units annually. Recent upgrades have significantly boosted this capacity to around 5,000 units per year, allowing Lotus to meet the growing demand for its stunning sports car.

Introducing the Emira Turbo SE

To commemorate this milestone, Lotus has unveiled the Emira Turbo SE, a model that replaces the Emira First Edition. The Turbo SE is designed to deliver enhanced performance and features, making it a worthy competitor to the Emira V6. The “SE” stands for “Special Equipment,” a term that Lotus has used since the Type 14 Elite, indicating a focus on increased power and advanced features.

The Emira Turbo SE is powered by an AMG-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, now producing an impressive 400 horsepower. This marks a significant increase from the 360 horsepower of the First Edition, bringing it on par with the Emira V6’s 3.5-liter supercharged V6 engine. With this power boost, the Turbo SE can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just four seconds, shaving off 0.4 seconds from its predecessor’s time. Additionally, the top speed has been raised to an exhilarating 180 mph.

Enhanced features and performance

The Emira Turbo SE comes exclusively with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, ensuring smooth and responsive gear shifts. Standard features include the Lotus Drivers Pack, which enhances the car’s performance with upgraded suspension, brakes, and launch control. The Turbo SE also boasts striking new 20-inch wheels, red brake calipers, an Alcantara headliner, and unique badging that sets it apart from other models.

Meanwhile, the Emira V6 has received some updates as well, including a new headliner trim and black interior trim for the A-pillars and cantrails. While the performance figures remain unchanged, with a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds for the automatic and 4.3 seconds for the manual, the top speed remains a thrilling 180 mph for both variants.

Since mid-2023, Lotus has been delivering Emiras to the U.S. market, although it remains to be seen if the latest Turbo SE will make its way to American shores. Orders for the updated models are already open in other regions, and enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the chance to experience the latest in Lotus performance.
